Tristan and Iseult is a retelling of the Celtic legend, published in by the Bodley Head, with illustrations by Victor Ambrus. Its protagonist Tristan also appears in Sutcliff's Arthurian retelling, The Sword and the Circle. It is a retelling of a well-known, and often retold story of tragic love. Bits and pieces of the story line are taken from Celtic legends.
